One of my goals as an attorney is to dedicate fifty-percent of my work to providing pro bono or volunteer legal services. Currently I provide such free legal services for two agencies in King County, and I am a member of the Law Alumni Board at the Seattle University School of Law.
KCBA Housing Justice Project
Maleng Regional Justice Center, Kent, WA
As a volunteer attorney with the King County Bar Association (KCBA) Housing Justice Project (HJP) I advise tenants on their limited rights under the law, help the tenant answer eviction summons and complaints or .375 payment or sworn statement requirements, negotiate with landlords on behalf of tenants facing eviction, or represent tenants at eviction (show cause) hearings.
The HJP is located in the King County Courthouse in Kent and Seattle. For more information see HJP.
Bellevue Youth Court
As a volunteer attorney with the Bellevue Youth Court I serve as a mentor to teen advocates who act as the prosecution or the defense at Youth Court hearings. The Youth Court operates on the ‘restorative justice’ model, that seeks to provide for accountability, competency development, and community safety.
For more information see: The Bellevue Youth Court.
